Teaching God's Word with Love...

Declare Your Independence!
Many people celebrate the 4th of July, Independence Day, with cookouts, fireworks and other activities to commemorate America’s Declaration of Independence in 1776. We who believe in God have another declaration to celebrate: our independence from sin! One way we can proclaim this declaration of independence is by taking Holy Communion.
We “take Holy Communion” by eating bread or wafer and drinking juice or other beverage; elements selected and blessed to represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ, broken and shed when He died on the cross for us. In I Corinthians 11:17-30 the Apostle Paul explains that by taking Holy Communion we remember and proclaim - openly declare - this amazing sacrifice. Every time we take Holy Communion we declare our allegiance to God, recognizing that Jesus gave His life for us so that our sins may be forgiven.
Paul also explains that we should take Holy Communion in a worthy manner by discerning the Lord’s Body. In other words, by understanding that the power of Jesus Christ, God’s Holy power, can save, deliver, protect, heal and preserve us! We can overcome fear, worry, addictions, sin and adversity when we trust and believe in God. We can proclaim with much gladness that we are truly free!
Don’t hesitate to participate in the beautiful, powerful ritual of Holy Communion. When we do, remember that we are making a declaration of independence from sin. Amen!
Minute Meditations are reflections to help us live our lives with excellence.
